Technical & architectural focus
The multifunctional facility De Trochset in Jistrum brings education, sport and community activities together in a flexible building designed for acoustic performance and spatial clarity. Alynia Architecten developed a composition of interlinked volumes connected by a central axis, with sloping roofs, inclined walls and varied ceiling heights that introduce rhythm, daylight and openness.
Troldtekt materials & acoustic performance
- Troldtekt K0-S acoustic ceiling panels installed in T24 suspension systems ensure optimised reverberation control and clear speech intelligibility.
- Troldtekt Tilt Line wall panels add depth and texture while supporting a healthy indoor climate.
- Their open wood-wool surface and Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold status reinforce comfort and well-being.
Making the design process visible
A distinctive design choice highlights the craftsmanship behind the project: in the main hall and technical room, inclined T24 ceilings with K0-S panels merge with Tilt Line-clad walls that transition into a celebrated “blueprint wall”, where the building’s technical drawings are reproduced on floor and wall.
During a guided visit, Mark Haarsma, building manager and municipal project lead, explained:
At the opening, alderman Tytsy Willemsma emphasised (in native Frysian) the building’s social role:
“Yn dit hûs komt de mienskip by-inoar — it is it klopjend hert fan Jistrum.”
(“In this house, the community comes together — it is the beating heart of Jistrum.”)
And the DOM board recalled the community-driven origin in the local newspaper:
“Instead of renovating everything separately, we proposed bringing it all together in one building. That creates a sense of togetherness.” — Djoke van der Veen, Renee Storm & Gerrie Hoeksma
